Construction of the superstructure for the Haramain High-Speed Rail Line (Mecca–Medina)

The project involved the construction of a high-speed railway line between the cities of Mecca and Medina, consisting of 450 km of double-track track designed for speeds of 320 km/h. The route includes stations in Mecca, Jeddah, King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and the city of Medina.
Imathia Construcción, as a member of the civil engineering consortium, was responsible for carrying out the civil engineering work related to the construction of the track beds and the laying of the track. Approximately 75% of the track was laid on ballast, while the remaining 25% was laid on precast slabs. More than four million metric tons of ballast were laid, 1,500,000 ties were manufactured, 1,850 km of UIC 60 rail was welded and installed, 180 turnouts were supplied and installed, and four mounting bases were constructed.
Now that the construction phase is complete, Imathia Construcción has begun a 12-year maintenance program for the infrastructure and superstructure.
