Imathia has successfully completed the rehabilitation of 26.8 km of the Kampala-Namanve-Mukono railway line, a project carried out for the Uganda Railways Corporation. This project marks a milestone in the modernization of the country’s railway network and strengthens Imathia’s presence in the African railway market.
The project has been a pioneer in Uganda as it is the first to incorporate concrete ties, manufactured locally thanks to the establishment of a dedicated plant in Kampala-Namanve. This initiative has made it possible to combine industrial capacity, railway expertise, and innovation with a strong integration of local resources.
As part of this innovative component, Imathia has developed and patented a vandal-resistant clamp specifically designed for railway infrastructure, intended to improve the protection and durability of track components in light of the particular operating conditions of the environment.
Another highlight of the project has been the integration of local labor, with a particularly significant proportion of female employees. As a result, the project has had an impact that extends beyond the infrastructure itself, contributing to capacity building, employment, and knowledge in Uganda.
With this project, Imathia adds another international reference to its portfolio and reaffirms its ability to develop comprehensive, innovative rail solutions tailored to each country’s needs, combining engineering, construction, local production, and technological development.
