This project developed for ADIF consisted in the construction of the track bed – a 6.64 km section – of the new Madrid-Galicia high-speed railway line, in the section: O Cañizo Tunnel. Right track. The route is located in the province of Ourense and runs through the municipal territories of A Mequita and A Gudiña.
Due to the length of the tunnel, it was designed with a single-track section, parallel to the tunnel corresponding to the left track, with a single-track bi-tube section being thus generated.
The length of the tunnel excavated totals 5,271 metres and it was executed using conventional methods following the New Austrian Method (N.A.T.M.) with a geometric section, with a free section of 52 m2.
